【Renovation Case of Wooden Facilities】Hiji Otaki Suspension Bridge
Appropriate renovation proposals are possible! Introducing cases where FRP materials were used for the renovation of suspension bridges.
We would like to introduce a renovation case of the "Hiji Otaki Suspension Bridge (Kunigami Village, Okinawa Prefecture)." This suspension bridge leads to the largest waterfall on Okinawa Island, which has a drop of about 26 meters and is surrounded by a subtropical deep forest. Corrosion of components made from foreign wood, except for the towers and cables, has partially surfaced, prompting the need for renovation work. All wooden parts have been replaced with corrosion-resistant FRP materials, resulting in a structure that can be used for a long time. 【Renovation Case】 ■ Renovation Details: Suspension Bridge (Width 1.5m × Length 50.0m) ■ Materials Used - Structural Material: Ipe → FRP - Decking: Bongoshi → FRP - Handrail: Bongoshi → FRP Our company is capable of making appropriate renovation proposals by combining various materials such as steel, aluminum alloys, FRP, recycled wood, and natural wood.
